Your dentist will contour and shape the gum line after removing excess tissue and bone, if necessary, to give it a more natural and pleasing appearance. The gum tissue may need to be sculpted to create a smooth and symmetrical contour to complement the teeth.

 After repositioning the gums, they are sutured into place using non-dissolvable or dissolvable sutures. This will encourage healing and tissue regeneration. The sutures hold the gums in their new position while they heal and integrate surrounding tissue.

Your dentist will provide detailed instructions about how to take care of yourself following the procedure. These include recommendations on pain management, oral hygiene, and dietary restrictions. Around the area of treatment, you may experience mild discomfort and swelling. Cold compresses or over-the-counter medications can treat these symptoms.

Your dentist will schedule follow-up appointments to monitor your healing and ensure the surgical site heals correctly. Your dentist will remove the sutures during these appointments and evaluate the outcome of the surgery.
